Segment 1א׳

וּשְׁמָא דִּילֵיהּ אִיקְרֵי זָהָב יְרַקְרַק, וְרָזָא דָא אוֹקְמוּהָ חַבְרַיָּיא. אֶסְתֵּר יְרַקְרֹקֶת הָיְתָה, גווַֹן אֶתְרוֹג. וְכֹלָּא חַד. זָהָב, דָא אִיהוּ רֵישָׁא בִּסְתִימוּ, אַף עַל גַּב דְּאִיהוּ בְּאִתְגַלְיָיא לְגַבֵּי זָהָב עִילָאָה עַד דְּיִתְמָשְׁכָא וְשַׁרְיָיא לְרֵישָׁא דְּגָּבְרִיאֵל כְּמָה דְּאוֹקִימְנָא. וּבְגִין כָּךְ כֹּלָא אִיהוּ בְּרָזָא עִילָאָה וְאִתְמָשְׁכָא הַהוּא רָזָא לְתַתָּא כוּלָא כְּגַוְונָא חַד.

And his name is called greenish gold; and this mystery the Companions have explained: Esther was greenish, of the colour of a citron. And all is one. Gold — this is a head in concealment, although it is in revelation with respect to the supernal gold, until it is drawn down and rests upon the head of Gabriel, as we have explained. And therefore all is in a supernal mystery, and that mystery is drawn downward, all of it after one manner.

Segment 2ב׳

וְעָשִׂיתָ כַּפֹּרֶת וְגוֹ' רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן אָמַר בְּכָל פַּרָשָׁתַּא דָא אַשְׁכַּחְנָא דְּאִתְּמְסַר עֲבִידְתָא בִּידָא דְּמֹשֶׁה, בָּר תְרֵין. בְּכֻלְּהוּ כְּתִיב, וְעָשִׂיתָ וְעָשִׂיתָ, וּבַאֲרוֹן וּבַאֵפוֹד כְּתִיב, וְעָשׁוֹּ וְעָשׁוֹּ, וְלָא כְּתִיב וְעָשִׂיתָ. מַאי טַעְמָא בַּאֲרוֹן לָא, בְּגִין דְּאֲרוֹן כָלִיל לֵיהּ לְּמֹשֶׁה בְּגַוֵּיהּ לְאִתְנַהֲרָא מִנֵּיהּ, וְאִצְטְרִיךְ אָחֳרָנִין לְתַקְנָא תִקּוּנָא וְשַׁפִּירוּ דִּילֵיהּ לְמֵיעָל לֵיהּ לְגַבֵּיהּ.

“And you shall make an ark-cover,” and so on. R. Simeon said: in all this section I have found that the work was given over into the hand of Moses, save for two. In them all it is written, “and you shall make,” “and you shall make”; but of the ark and of the ephod it is written, “and they shall make,” “and they shall make,” and it is not written “and you shall make.” What is the reason that it is not so with the ark? Because the ark included Moses within it, to be given light from him; and others were needed to make ready its adornment and its beauty, to bring him in to it.

Segment 3ג׳

בְּאֵפוֹד לָאו דִּילֵיהּ הוּא, וְלָא אִשְׁתַּמַּשׁ בֵּיהּ, וְלָא אִיצְטְרִיךְ לֵיהּ לְּמֹשֶׁה לְמֶעְבַּד פּוּלְחָנָא דְּאַחוֹי, דְּהָא מֹשֶׁה אִיהוּ מַלְכָּא וְאַהֲרֹן שׁוֹשְׁבִינֵיה דְּמַלְכָּא.

With the ephod, it was not his, and he did not use it; and Moses did not need to perform the service of his brother, for Moses is the king and Aaron is the king’s groomsman.

Segment 4ד׳

וְאִי תֵּימָא וְהָא כְּתִיב (שמות כ״ט:ה׳) וְהִלְבָּשְׁתָּ אֵת אַהֲרֹן וְאַפָדְתָּ לוֹ וְנָתַתָּ עַלָּיו וְשָׂמְתָ עַלָּיו הַא כּוּלֵי הַאי פּוּלְחָנָא דְּמֹשֶׁה וִיּקָרָא דְאֲהַרֹן אִיהוּ, לָאו הָכִי. אֶלָּא יְקָרָא דְּמֹשֶׁה אִיהוּ דְּהָא קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא לָא בָּעָא פּוּלְחָנָא דְאֲהַרֹן, אֶלָּא עַל יְדָא דְּמֹשֶׁה. וְאַהֲרֹן לָא יָכִיל לְאִתְקַדְשָׁא, אֶלָּא עַל יְדָא דְּמֹשֶׁה. וּבְכֹלָּא אִיצְטְרִיךְ אַהֲרֹן לְּמֹשֶׁה, וְכָל הַאי יְקָרָא דְּמֹשֶׁה אִיהוּ.

And if you should say: but it is written, “And you shall clothe Aaron, and gird him with the ephod, and put upon him, and set upon him” (Ex. 29, 5) — see, all this is the service of Moses and the honour of Aaron! It is not so. Rather, it is the honour of Moses; for the Holy One, blessed be He, did not desire the service of Aaron save by the hand of Moses, and Aaron could not be sanctified save by the hand of Moses. And in everything Aaron had need of Moses; and all this is the honour of Moses.

Segment 5ה׳

וְעָשִׂיתָ כַּפֹּרֶת. תָּא חֲזֵי, כְּתִיב בְּפַּרָשָׁתַּא דָא, עוֹבָדָא דְּשָׁמַיִם וָאָרֶץ וְכָל אִינוּן חֵילִין דְּתַּמָּן, דְּהָא קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא לָא פַקִּיד לְמֶעְבַּד מַשְׁכְּנָא אֶלָּא כְּעוֹבָדֵי שָּׁמַיִם וָאָרֶץ לְמֶהוֵי כְּגַוְונָא דְּדִיוּרָא דִּלְעֵילָּא וּלְאִתְחַבְּרָא דָא בְּדָא, כְּגַוְונָא דְּנִשְׁמָתָא וְגוּפָא לְמֶהֱוֵי כֹּלָּא חַד.

“And you shall make an ark-cover.” Observe: there is written in this section the work of heaven and earth and all those hosts that are there; for the Holy One, blessed be He, commanded that the tabernacle be made only after the works of heaven and earth, that it might be after the manner of the dwelling that is above, and that this should be joined to that, after the manner of the soul and the body, that all should be one.
