One who plasters dough upon a bird that has not been salted: although in the Gemara a distinction is drawn between semida (the finest of the flours) and the other flours, and between where it reddened and where it did not redden, we now are not expert in the matter, and in every case it is to be forbidden. But if it was salted, and stayed the measure of salting, and afterwards was washed, it is permitted in every case. Hagah [Rema]: And it is specifically to plaster with dough that is forbidden; but it is permitted to smear with permitted fat, or with brine, meat that has not been salted, for this does not hold back the giving-off (Issur v'Heter haAroch, klal 9). And a pashtida (a pie of meat baked in dough) has all the law of cooking in a pot, whether for leniency or for stringency (Mordechai, chapter "All flesh", in the name of Rashi, and Maharai, and the Issur v'Heter haAroch, klal 15).
