Se’if 1א׳
Two batches of dough which together hold the measure liable to challah (the portion of dough given to a priest), and neither of them holds the measure, and they touched one another and stuck to one another: if they belonged to two people, even if they are of one kind, they are exempt from challah, for two people are presumed to be particular. And if it is known that they are not particular about the mixing of the batches, these join together. And disciples who study before a teacher are presumed not to be particular (Mordechai, chapter "All flesh"). If both belonged to one man: if they were of one kind, as was explained in siman 324, they join together and are liable to challah; and if they were of two kinds, they do not join together — for one man is presumed not to be particular. And if he was particular that one dough should not touch the other and should not mix with it, even if they were of one kind they do not join together. And if the one is coarse bread and the other fine bread, even if they belong to one man, he is presumed to be particular and it does not join. Hagah [Rema]: And the same law applies to two batches of dough where one has saffron in it and the second has none. And all this is where there is not the measure in each one; but if there is the measure in them, he separates from one for the other, if they belong to one man (Terumat haDeshen, siman 129).
Se’if 2ב׳
A baker who made dough in order to make it into se'or (the sourdough leaven that makes the dough ferment) to distribute it — it is liable to challah, for if it is not sold he will make it into bread. But any other man who makes dough to distribute it as raw dough — it is exempt.
Se’if 3ג׳
Two who gave flour to a baker to make se'or for them: if the share of neither of them holds the measure, even though together they hold the measure, it is exempt. Hagah [Rema]: And this is specifically where he mixed them without their knowledge; but with their knowledge it is liable, for they are not particular (Beit Yosef in the name of the Semag).
