Se’if 1א׳
The firstborn is forbidden in shearing and in work. And even if he transgressed and sheared it, or plucked it by hand, or even if the wool fell off of itself, it is forbidden in benefit for ever — it makes no difference whether it died of itself or he slaughtered it afterwards; and even through an expert, the slaughter does not permit the wool that was plucked off while it was alive. But wool that is attached — the slaughter permits it, as it does its flesh.
Se’if 2ב׳
If it was plucked off while it was alive and is still tangled in the rest of the wool — that which appears as part of the rest of the wool is permitted by the slaughter; and that which does not appear as part of the rest of the wool, namely where its root is turned toward its head, the slaughter does not permit.
Se’if 3ג׳
When he comes to slaughter it, or to see its blemish, he may pluck the wool of the place of slaughter, in order to make a place for the slaughter. And the wool that he plucked is forbidden in benefit (Beit Yosef in the name of the Rambam). And this is specifically by hand, but not with a vessel, so that he should not appear as one who shears.
