Se’if 1א׳
He vowed or swore away from what is cooked: if the way of that place, in that language and at that time, is that they call even what is roast and what is seethed "cooked", this one is forbidden in all. And if it is not their way to call "cooked" save flesh that was cooked in water and in spices, this one is permitted in what is roast and in what is seethed. And likewise what is smoked and what is fried and what is cooked in the hot springs of Tiberias and the like — we go in it after the language of the men of the city.
Se’if 2ב׳
One who vows away from a dish of the pot is forbidden only in things that they boil in a pot, such as groats and cakes and the like. If he forbade himself from everything that goes down into the pot, this one is forbidden in everything that is cooked in a pot. He vowed away from what goes down into the oven — he is forbidden only in bread. And if he said: every dish of the oven is upon me, he is forbidden in everything that is made in an oven.
Se’if 3ג׳
He vowed or swore away from what is salted: if their way is to call all salted things "salted", this one is forbidden in all salted things, even where it is salted only to keep for a short while. And if it is not their way to call "salted" save salted fish alone, he is forbidden only in salted fish (Tur and the Rosh and the Ran in the name of the Yerushalmi). He vowed or swore away from what is pickled: if their way is to call all pickled things "pickled", this one is forbidden in all. And if it is not their way to call "pickled" save pickled vegetable alone, he is forbidden only in pickled vegetable. And so all that is like this. Some of the men of the place called it so and some of them did not call it so — we do not follow the majority; rather this is a doubt in vows, and every doubt in vows is to the stringent side.
