One who sends by the hand of an idolater (oved kokhavim — the standing term for a gentile) vessels that are designated for wine must seal them with one seal, so that it should be recognisable if the idolater has put wine into them; and there is one who requires a seal within a seal. Hagah [Rema]: And if he transgressed and sent them without a seal, there is ground to make it fit according to the manner of making fit as though it had been an idolater's (Tur, and see se'if katan 3); but if he has already transgressed and used it, it is not to be forbidden after the fact. And see above, siman 122. And if they are large barrels, it is permitted to leave them in the house of an idolater craftsman for a day or two, to repair them, for with a large vessel such as this it is not usual to use it for a brief while.
