Se’if 1א׳
The firstborns, either of the father or of the mother, must fast on the eve of Passover. According to one opinion, even a firstborn daughter must fast (it is not the practice).
Se’if 2ב׳
If the eve of Passover falls on the Sabbath, there are those who say that the firstborn fast on Thursday, and there are those who say that they do not fast at all. Hagah [Rema]: But one should practise according to the first opinion. And the custom is that where the father is a firstborn, the mother fasts in place of her firstborn son while he is still a minor; and if the father is not a firstborn, he fasts on behalf of his son until he grows up.
Se’if 3ג׳
One who is delicate (istenis — one whose body cannot bear discomfort) fasts on the eve of Passover, so that he will eat the matzah (the unleavened bread of Passover) with appetite.
