Se’if 1א׳

דין השואל אחר כלות זמן השאלה. ובו ב סעיפים: השואל חפץ או כל דבר לזמן מיד כשיכלה הזמן חוזר הדבר השאול לרשות המשאיל להפטר השואל מאונסים אפי' הוא עדיין בביתו ומ"מ חייב הוא בגניבה ואבידה כדין שומר שכר ואם שלחו לו בתוך הזמן ביד עבדו או שלוחו של משאיל או של שואל נתבאר בסי' ש"מ:

The law of the borrower after the time of the borrowing has ended; it contains two se'ifim. One who borrows an object, or anything, for a time — as soon as the time ends, the borrowed thing returns to the lender's domain, so that the borrower is exempt from mishaps, even if it is still in his house; nevertheless he is liable for theft and loss, according to the law of a paid bailee. And if he sent it to him within the time by the hand of the slave or the agent of the lender or of the borrower, it was explained in siman 340.

Se’if 2ב׳

שומר שכר לזמן כיון שכלה זמנו כלתה שמירתו ואפי' הוא עדיין בביתו אינו עליה אלא ש"ח:

A paid bailee for a time — once his time has ended, his guarding has ended; and even if it is still in his house, he stands over it only as an unpaid bailee.
