Chapter 24 of 25 in Defilement by a Corpse — 8 halachot
Halacha 1
A house that he divided with pure jars from the ground up to the beam, with the impurity in one of its halves: if the mouths of the jars were toward the pure side, they save; and if they were toward the impurity, they do not save. If he plastered them with clay, whether from within or from without, we look: if the clay is able to stand by itself, it saves; and if not, it does not save, and the whole is one tent.
Halacha 2
A house that he divided with planks or with curtains: if he divided it at the sides, or from the direction of the beams, and the impurity was in the house, the vessels that are between the partition and the wall, or between the partition and the beams, are pure. If the impurity was between the partition and the wall, or between the partition and the beams, the vessels that are in the house are impure, since the partition does not prevent the impurity from going out and conveying impurity, as we have explained with regard to a tent that is within a house. If the vessels were within the thickness of the partition itself, whether the impurity was inside the partition or was in the house: if the place of the vessels was a handbreadth by a handbreadth, they are impure; and if not, they are pure. And we have already explained what the law of the house is if he divided it from the direction of its floor.
Halacha 3
A house that is full of straw and between it and the beams there is not an opening of a handbreadth: if the impurity is within, whether within the straw or between the straw and the beams, all the vessels that are opposite the going out of the impurity, within the full extent of the opening, are impure. If the impurity was outside the straw, within the full extent of the opening — the vessels that are within, if there is in their place a handbreadth by a handbreadth by a handbreadth in height, are pure; and if not, they are impure. And if there is between the straw and the beams an opening of a handbreadth, in either case they are impure, since the straw does not interpose, because straw is ordinarily such that his intention is to clear it away.
