Halacha 1

Which is a beit ha-peras? It is the place in which a grave was ploughed, for the bones of the corpse have been broken small within the soil and have been spread over the whole field. And they decreed impurity upon the whole field in which the grave was ploughed — even if he ploughed above the coffin, and even if it was sunk beneath layers of stonework and stones; and even if there was above the coffin a height of two men's stature, since he ploughed over a grave, this makes a beit ha-peras. And how far is it made a beit ha-peras? A hundred cubits by a hundred cubits from the place of the grave.

Halacha 2

This whole square, which is an area of four se'ah, is a beit ha-peras, and its soil conveys impurity by contact and by carrying, as we have explained, and it does not convey impurity by a tent. And so one who overshadows this beit ha-peras is pure.

Halacha 3

If he began to plough the grave and went on ploughing it, and before he completed a hundred cubits he shook out the plough, or struck against rock or against a fence — up to there alone does he make a beit ha-peras, and the rest is pure, since nothing reached it in the drawing of the plough. If he ploughed some fifty cubits or more, and returned and ploughed until he completed the hundred, the whole is a beit ha-peras. If he went on ploughing beyond a hundred cubits, from a hundred cubits and outwards it is pure, since the bones of a grave do not reach further than a hundred.
