רבי יוסי הגלילי Rabbi Yose HaGelili
Tanna · 2nd generation (c. 80–110 CE) — named 273 times across 31 tractates of the Bavli.
Rabbi Yose HaGelili, of the second tannaitic generation, came to Yavneh from the Galilee and took his place among its leading voices. He is one of Rabbi Akiva's steadiest disputants, particularly in the derivation of law from verses.
His son Rabbi Eliezer berabbi Yose HaGelili is himself a tanna, credited with the thirty-two rules of aggadic exposition. Rabbi Yose HaGelili is named some two hundred and seventy times, weighted toward Bava Kamma, Chullin and the sacrificial tractates, where his readings of the verses are argued over closely.
The Galilean; a frequent disputant of Rabbi Akiva.
