Segment 1א׳

(בראשית א׳:ו׳) וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים יְהִי רָקִיעַ בְּתוֹךְ הַמָּיִם. רִבִּי יְהוּדָה אָמַר, אִלְמָלֵא הַהוּא רְקִיעָא דְּאַפְרִישׁ בֵּין מַיִין עִלָּאֵי לְתַתָּאֵי, הֲוָה פְּלִיגוּ בְּעָלְמָא מִנַּיְיהוּ. אֲבָל הַאי רָקִיעַ, עָבִיד שְׁלָמָא בֵּינַיְיהוּ, וְעָלְמָא לָא מִתְקַיְּימָא אֶלָּא עַל שָׁלוֹם. תָּא חֲזִי, קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא אִקְרֵי שָׁלוֹם, הוּא שָׁלוֹם. וּשְׁמֵיהּ שָׁלוֹם, וְאִתְקְשַּׁר כֹּלָּא בְּשָׁלוֹם. רִבִּי אַבָּא אָמַר, חֲמֵינָא דְּהַאי שְׁמָא קַדִּישָׁא עִלָּאָה כֹּלָּא הוּא שָׁלוֹם, וְכֹלָּא חַד. ואָרְחָן מִתְפָּרְשָׁאן לְהַאי סִטְרָא, וּלְהַאי סִטְרָא. R. Judah, commenting on the verse, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters”, said: “Did not that firmament divide the upper from the lower waters there would be conflict between them. But that firmament keeps the peace between them, and the world is established only on peace. God is also called “peace”; He is peace, His name is peace, and all is bound together in peace.’ R. Abba said: ‘I see that this supreme Holy Name is altogether peace and altogether one, and paths diverge from it in all directions.

Segment 2ב׳

יוֹ"ד דִּשְׁמָא קַדִּישָׁא אִתְקְשַׁר בִּתְלַת קִשְׁרִין, בְּגִין דָּא, הַאי י', קוֹצָא חַד לְעֵילָּא, וְקוֹצָא חַד לְתַתָּא, וְחַד בְּאֶמְצָעִיתָא. בְּגִין דִּתְלַת קִשְׁרִין אִשְתֶּלְשָׁלוּ (נ"א אתקשרו) בָּה חַד קוֹצָא לְעֵילָּא, כִּתְרָא עִלָּאָה, דְּהוּא עִלָּאָה מִכָּל עִלָּאִין, רֵישָׁא דְּכָל רֵישִׁין, וְהוּא קָאִים עַל כֹּלָּא.

The Yod of the Holy Name is bound in three knots; therefore this Yod has one point above, and one point below, and one in the middle, because three knots are linked in it. One point above: the supernal crown, which is higher than all that is high, the head of all heads, and it stands over all.

Segment 3ג׳

חַד קוֹצָא בְּאֶמְצָעִיתָא, דְּהוּא רֵישָׁא אָחֳרָא. בְּגִין דִּתְלַת רֵישִׁין הֲווֹ, וְכָל חַד וְחַד רֵישָׁא בִּלְחוֹדוֹי. וְעַל דָּא קוֹצָא דְּאֶמְצָעִיתָא, דָּא הוּא רֵישָׁא אָחֳרָא, דְּנָפִיק מִקּוֹצָא דִּלְעֵילָּא, וְהוּא רֵישָׁא לְכָל שְׁאָר רֵישִׁין, לְאִתְבָּנָהָא שְׁמָא קַדִּישָׁא, וְהַאי רִישָׁא סְתִימָא דְּכֹלָּא.

One point in the middle, which is another head; for there were three heads, and each one is a head by itself. And therefore the middle point, this is another head, which issues from the point above; and it is the head to all the other heads, to build the Holy Name; and this head is the most hidden of all.

Segment 4ד׳

רֵישָׁא אָחֳרָא תַּתָּאָה, הוּא רֵישָׁא לְאַשְׁקָאָה לְגִנְתָּא, וְהוּא מַבּוּעָ דְּמַיִין, דְּכָל נְטִיעָן אִשְׁתַּקְיָין מִנֵּיהּ. וְדָא הוּא י' בִּתְלַת קִשְׁרִין. וְעַל דָּא שַׁלְשֶׁלֶת אִקְרֵי. כְּהַאי שַׁלְשֶׁלֶת, דְּאִתְקָשָׁר דָּא בְּדָא, וְכֹלָּא חַד.

The other, lower head is the head that waters the garden, and it is the wellspring of waters from which all the plantings are watered. And this is the Yod with three knots. And therefore it is called a chain: like this chain, in which one is bound to another, and all is one.

Segment 5ה׳

תָּאנָא בְּסִפְרָא דַּחֲנוֹךְ, בְּשַׁעֲתָא דְּאַחְזִיאוּ לֵיהּ חָכְמְתָא דְּרָזִין עִלָּאִין, וְחָמָא אִילָנָא דְּגִּנְתָּא דְּעֵדֶן, אַחְזִיוּ לֵיהּ חָכְמְתָא, בְּרָזָא עִלָּאָה. וְחָמָא, דְּכֻלְּהוּ עָלְמִין הֲווֹ מִתְקַשְּׁרָן דָּא בְּדָא, שָׁאִיל לוֹן, עַל מַה קַיְימִין. אָמְרוּ לֵיהּ, עַל י' קַיְימֵי כֻּלְּהוּ. מִנֵּיהּ אִתְבְּנִיאוּ ואִשְׁתֶּלְשָׁלוּ (נ"א אתבריאו ואשתכללו). דִּכְתִּיב, (תהילים ק״ד:כ״ד) כֻּלָם בְּחָכְמָה עָשִׂיתָ. וְחָמָא, דְּכֻלְּהוּ מִזְדַּעֲזְעוּ מִדְּחִילוּ דְּמָארֵיהוֹן, וְעַל שְׁמֵיהּ אִתְקְרוּן כֻּלְּהוּ.

It has been taught in the Book of Enoch: at the hour when they showed him the wisdom of supernal mysteries, and he saw the tree of the garden of Eden, they showed him wisdom in a supernal mystery. And he saw that all the worlds were bound one to another. He asked them, upon what do they stand? They said to him: they all stand upon the Yod; from it they were built and linked, as it is written, “In wisdom have You made them all” (Ps. 104, 24). And he saw that they all trembled at the fear of their Master, and that they are all called by His name.
