Zohar, Vayeshev 6
Section 6 of 25 in Vayeshev — 8 segments
Segment 1
NOW ISRAEL LOVED JOSEPH MORE THAN ALL HIS CHILDREN, BECAUSE HE WAS THE SON OF HIS OLD AGE; AND HE MADE HIM A COAT OF MANY COLOURS. Said R. Eleazar: ‘It is written: “Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee; hide thyself for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast” (Is. 26, 20). God holds Israel in affection above the idolatrous nations, and on that account He warns them and puts them on their guard in all their deeds.
Segment 2
There are three periods in a day during which the world is liable to chastisement, and at each of these periods it behoves a man to be specially on his guard. These are well known and are specified elsewhere.
Segment 3
For when the morning rises, Abraham is roused in the world, and takes hold of judgement to bind it to himself. And at the beginning of the first three hours judgement departs from its place to be roused in Jacob, until the afternoon prayer is roused, when judgement returns to its place, and the judgement below is roused to be bound to the judgement above. For then judgement is bound to judgement, and a man must be on his guard.
