Segment 1א׳

אָמַר רִבִּי יְהוּדָה, וּבוֹזַי יֵקָלּוּ, מַאן דְּלָא יָדַע לְאוֹקִיר לְמָארֵיהּ, וְלָא אִתְכַּוָּון בְּאָמֵן, דְּתָנֵינָן גָּדוֹל הָעוֹנֶה אָמֵן יוֹתֵר מִן הַמְּבָרֵךְ. וְהָא אוֹקִימְנָא קַמֵּיהּ דְּרַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן, דְּאָמֵן, מָשִׁיךְ בִּרְכָאן מִמַּבּוּעָא לְמַלְכָּא, וּמִמַּלְכָּא לְמַטְרוֹנִיתָא (דא כנסת ישראל). וּבְאַתְוָון גְּלִיפִין דְּרִבִּי אֶלְעָזָר, מֵאָלֶ"ף לְמֵ"ם, וּמִמֵּ"ם לְנוּ"ן. כֵּיוָן דְּמָטוּ בִּרְכָאן לְנוּן, מִתַּמָּן נַגְדִּין וְנָפְקִין בִּרְכָאן לְעִלָּאֵי וְתַתָּאֵי, וּמִתְפַּשְּׁטֵי בְּכֹלָּא. וְקָלָא נָפִיק אִתְשַׁקְיוּ מִשַּׁקִיוּתָא דְּבִרְכָן, דְּאַפִּיק פְּלַנְיָא עַבְדָּא דְּמַלְכָּא קַדִּישָׁא.

R. Judah says that these words apply to one who does not answer “Amen” with devotion, since we have learnt: Greater is he that answers “Amen” than he that says the blessing. For so we have explained in the presence of R. Simeon, that Amen draws blessings from the Source to the King and from the King to the Matrona; in the inscribed letters of R. Eleazar, from A to M and from M to N. and when the blessings come to N. from there they issue forth to higher and lower and spread through all, and a voice proclaims, “Drink from the stream of blessings that So-and-so the servant of the Holy King has sent forth”.

Segment 2ב׳

וְכַד יִשְׂרָאֵל לְתַתָּא, מְשַׁמְּרִין לְאָתָבָא אָמֵן, לְכַוְּונָא לִבַּיְיהוּ כְּמָה דְּאִצְטְרִיךְ, כַּמָה פִּתְחִין דְּבִרְכָּאן פְּתִיחָן לֵיהּ לְעֵילָּא, כַּמָה טָבָאן מִשְׁתַּכְּחִין בְּכֻלְּהוּ עָלְמִין, כַּמָה חֵדוּ בְּכֹלָּא. מַאי אֲגָר לְהוּ לְיִשְׂרָאֵל דְּגַרְמִין הַאי. אֲגָר לְהוּ בְּעָלְמָא דֵּין, וּבְעָלְמָא דְּאָתֵי. בְּעָלְמָא דֵּין בְּשַׁעֲתָא דְּעָאקִין לְהוּ (לישראל), וּמְצַלָּן צְלוֹתָא קַמֵּי מָארֵיהוֹן, קָלָא מַכְרְזָא בְּכֻלְּהוּ עָלְמִין, (ישעיהו כ״ו:ב׳) פִּתְחוּ שְׁעָרִים וְיָבוֹא גּוֹי צַדִּיק שׁוֹמֵר אֱמוּנִים אַל תִּקְרֵי אֱמוּנִים, אֶלָּא אֲמֵנִים. פִּתְחוּ שְׁעָרִים, כְּמָה דְּיִשְׂרָאֵל פַּתְחִין לְהוּ תַּרְעִין דְּבִרְכָּאן, כַּךְ הַשְׁתָּא פִּתְחוּ שְׁעָרִים, וְתִתְקַבֵּל צְלוֹתְהוֹן מֵאִינּוּן דְּעָאקִין לְהוּ.

And when Israel below are careful to answer “Amen” with fitting devotion, many doors of blessing are opened for them above, many blessings are spread through all worlds, and great is the joy throughout.

Segment 3ג׳

הַאי בְּעָלְמָא דֵּין, בְּעָלְמָא דְּאָתֵי מַאי אַגְרַיְיהוּ. דְּכַד יִפּוּק בַּר נָשׁ מֵהַאי עָלְמָא, דְּהֲוָה שׁוֹמֵר לְאָתָבָא אָמֵן. מַאי שׁוֹמֵר. כְּלוֹמַר, נָטִיר הַהִיא בְּרָכָה דְּאָמַר הַהוּא דִּמְבָרֵךְ, וּמְחַכֶּה לֵיהּ לְאָתָבָא אָמֵן, כְּמָה דְּאִצְטְרִיךְ. נִשְׁמָתֵיהּ סַלְּקָא וּמַכְרְזֵי קַמֵּיהּ, פִּתְחוּ שְׁעָרִים קַמֵּיהּ, כְּמָה דְּאִיהוּ הֲוָה פָּתַח תַּרְעִין כָּל יוֹמָא, כַּד הֲוָה שׁוֹמֵר אֱמוּנִים.

For this Israel receive a reward in this world and in the next. In this world because when Israel are oppressed and offer up prayer a voice proclaims in all worlds, “Open ye the gates that the righteous nation which keepeth truth may enter in” (Isa. 26, 2):
