Segment 1א׳

דְּתַנְיָא כְּתִיב, (מלכים א ה׳:י׳) וַתֵּרֶב חָכְמַת שְׁלֹמֹה, בְּיוֹמוֹי דִשְׁלֹמֹה מַלְכָּא, קָיְימָא סִיהֲרָא בְּאַשְׁלָמוּתָא. וְהַיְינוּ דִכְתִיב, וַתֵּרֶב חָכְמַת שְׁלֹמֹה מֵחָכְמַת כָּל בְּנֵי קֶדֶם. תַּמָּן תָּנִינָן, מַאן אִינוּן בְּנִי קֶדֶם, הָא אוּקְמוּהָ. אֲבָל חָכְמַת בְּנֵי קֶדֶם, הִיא חָכְמְתָא דְּיָרְתוּ מֵאַבְרָהָם.

R. Isaac said: ‘It is written: “And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the East” (I Kings 5, 9). What is the wisdom of the children of the East? Tradition tells us that it was the wisdom which they inherited from Abraham.

Segment 2ב׳

דְּתַנְיָא כְּתִיב, (בראשית כ״ה:ה׳) וַיִּתֵּן אַבְרָהָם אֶת כָּל אֲשֶׁר לוֹ לְיִצְחָק. מַאי אֶת כָּל אֲשֶׁר לוֹ. דָּא חָכְמְתָא עִלָּאָה דְּהֲוָה יָדַע בִּשְׁמָא קַדִּישָׁא דְּקוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא, וּמַשְׁמַע אֶת כָּל אֲשֶׁר לוֹ, דְּהֲוָה דִילֵיהּ. כִּדְתָנִינָן בְּהַהִיא בַּת דְּהֲוַת לֵיהּ לְאַבְרָהָם, וּבַכֹּל שְׁמָהּ.

For we read that Abraham “gave all that he had unto Isaac” (Gen. 25, 5): this refers to the higher wisdom, which he possessed through the knowledge of the holy name of God.

Segment 3ג׳

וְלִבְנֵי הַפִּילַּגְשִׁים אֲשֶׁר לְאַבְרָהָם נָתַן אַבְרָהָם מַתָּנוֹת וְגו'. דְּיָהַב לְהוּ מִילִין יְדִיעָאן, בְּכִתְרִין תַּתָּאִין, וּבְאָן אֲתַר אַשְׁרֵי לוֹן, אֶל אֶרֶץ קֶדֶם. וּמִתַּמָּן יָרִיתוּ בְּנִי קֶדֶם חָכְמָתָא, וְהַיְינוּ דִכְתִיב מֵחָכְמַת כָּל בְּנֵי קֶדֶם.

“But to the sons of the concubines which Abraham had Abraham gave gifts”; to wit, certain information about the lower crowns, and he settled them in “the east country” (Ibid,.); and from that source the children of the East inherited wisdom.’
