This verse they have explained. “O Lord, You are my God”: for a man must give thanks to the Holy Name and praise it above all. And in what place is its praise? As they have explained. But here, out of the deepest of all, for it is written, “for You have done wonderful things.” “Wonderful”: as it is written, “and his name is called Wonderful” (Isa. 9, 5); and it has been stated. “Counsels from afar”: “counsels”, as it says, “Counsellor.” “From afar”, as it is written, “From afar the Lord appeared to me” (Jer. 31, 3); and it is written, “she brings her bread from afar” (Prov. 31, 14).

And they have explained, faithfulness by night, as it says, “and Your faithfulness in the night seasons” (Ps. 92, 3); and it is written, “They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness” (Lam. 3, 23). And the Holy One, blessed be He, is destined to purify Israel from their sins, as it is written, “And I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean: from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you” (Ezek. 36, 25). Blessed be the Lord for ever. Amen and Amen.
