Segment 1א׳

(שמות א׳:י׳) הָבָה נִּתְחַכְּמָה לוֹ. רִבִּי יוֹסֵי אָמַר, אֵין הָבָה אֶלָּא לָשׁוֹן הַזְמָנָה, לְמֶעְבַּד דִּינָא. כְּמָה דְּאַתְּ אָמֵר, (בראשית י״א:ז׳) הָבָה נֵרְדָה. (שמואל א י״ד:מ״א) הָבָה תָמִים. אָמַר רִבִּי יוֹחָנָן, הָבָה כּוּלָּם, לְשׁוֹן הַסְכָּמָה וְהַזְמָנָה. כְּמוֹ (בראשית י״א:ד׳) הָבָה נִבְנֶה לָּנוּ עִיר. (שופטים כ׳:ז׳) הָבוּ לָכֶם עֵצָה. (תהילים כ״ט:א׳) הָבוּ לַה' בְּנֵי אֵלִים.

COME, LET US DEAL WISELY WITH THEM LEST THEY MULTIPLY (Ex. I,10).

Segment 2ב׳

רִבִּי יִצְחָק אָמַר, הָבָה נִּתְחַכְּמָה לוֹ נְהוֵי בְהַסְכָּמַת דִּינָא לְגַבֵּיהּ. פֶּן יִרְבֶּה, וְרוּחַ הַקֹּדֶשׁ אוֹמֶרֶת כֵּן יִרְבֶּה, וְכֵן יִפְרוֹץ. וּמַלְאֲכֵי הַשָׁרֵת הֲווֹ לְהוּ לְשִׂכִּים וְלִצְנִינִים הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב, וַיָּקוּצוּ מִפְּנֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל. דַּהֲווֹ מִתְעַקְּצֵי מִמַּלְאֲכֵי הַשָּׁרֵת, כְּהָנֵי קוֹצֵי דְּמִתְעַקְּצֵי בְּהוּ אִינְשֵׁי.

R. Isaac said: “Come, let us deal wisely with them” — let us be in concert with Judgement against him. “Lest they multiply” — and the Holy Spirit says, “So shall they multiply, and so shall they break forth.” And the ministering angels were to them as pricks and as thorns; and this is the meaning of the verse, “and they were pricked because of the children of Israel” — that they were pricked by the ministering angels, like those thorns by which men are pricked.
