Segment 1א׳

אָמַר רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן, בְּדָא אַקְשָׁן קַדְמָאֵי, אֲבָל גַּרְמִין אִלֵּין דְּאַחֲיָא קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא, נִסִּין וְאָתִין מְשַׁנְיָין, עֲבַד בְּהוּ קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא. תָּא חֲזֵי מַה כְּתִיב, (איוב י׳:ט׳) זְכָר נָא כִּי כַחוֹמֶר עֲשִׂיתָנִי וְאֶל עָפָר תְּשִׁיבֵנִי. מַה כְּתִיב בַּתְרֵיהּ, הֲלֹא כֶחָלָב תַּתִּיכֵנִי וְכַגְּבִינָה תַּקְפִּיאֵנִי, עוֹר וּבָשָׂר תַּלְבִּישֵׁנִי וּבַעֲצָמוֹת וְגִידִים תְּסוֹכְכֵנִי. זַמִּין קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא, לְבָתַר דְּיִתְבְּלֵי בַּר נָשׁ בְּעַפְרָא, וּמָטֵי זִמְנָא דִּתְחִיַית הַמֵּתִים, דְּהַהוּא גַּרְמָא דְּיִשְׁתְּאַר. לְמֶעְבַּד לֵיהּ כְּעִסָה דָּא, וְכַגְּבִינָה דְּחָלָב, וּנְבִיעַ כְּחָלָב, דְּהוּא נְבִיעוּ נָקִי מְצוּחְצַח בְּצָחוּתָא הַהוּא גַּרְמָא. כַּד יִתְעֲרָב הַהוּא גַּרְמָא וְיִתְמְחֵי כְּחָלָבָא, וּלְבָתַר יַקְפִּיא לֵיהּ, וְיִתְצַיֵּיר בְּצִייּוּרָא כַּגְּבִינָה בִּקְפִּיאוּתָא, וּלְבָתַר יִתְמְשַׁךְ עָלֵיהּ עוֹר וּבָשָׂר וַעֲצָמוֹת וְגִידִים.

Said R. Simeon: ‘The ancients also marvelled at this. But the truth is that these bones thich God revived were treated in an exceptional manner. What will really happen is indicated in the verse: “Remember now that thou hast made me like clay and will restore me to dust”,

Segment 2ב׳

הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב הֲלֹא כֶחָלָב תַּתִּיכֵנִי וְכַגְּבִינָה תַּקְפִּיאֵנִי. הִתַּכְתָּנִי לָא כְּתִיב, אֶלָּא תַּתִּיכֵנִי. הִקְפִּיתָנִי לָא כְּתִיב, אֶלָּא תַּקְפִּיאֵנִי. הִלְבַּשְׁתָּנִי לָא כְּתִיב, אֶלָּא תַּלְבִּישֵׁנִי. סוֹכַכְתָּנִי לָא כְּתִיב, אֶלָּא תְּסוֹכְכֵנִי. כֻּלְּהוּ לְבָתַר זִמְנָא מַשְׁמַע.

and then, “Wilt thou not pour me out like milk and congeal me like cheese?” (Job 10, 9-10). At the time of the resurrection of the dead, God will melt that bone which remains of a man [for all time] and pour it out like milk and then congeal it and shape it like a cheese, and then skin and flesh and bones and sinews will be drawn over it, and lastly the spirit of life will be put into them,

Segment 3ג׳

וּלְבָתַר מַה כְּתִיב, חַיִים וָחֶסֶד עָשִׂיתָ עִמָּדִי, דָּא רוּחָא דְּחַיֵּי. (ס"א ואי תימא) עָשִׂיתָ עִמָּדִי כְּתִיב, וְלָא כְּתִיב תַּעֲשֶׂה. אֶלָּא הָכִי אָמַר, חַיִים וָחֶסֶד עָשִׂיתָ עִמָּדִי. בְּהַהוּא עָלְמָא שָׁדִית בִּי רוּחָא דְּחַיִּים, אֲבָל וּפְקוּדָּתְךָ, דְּמַטְרוֹנִיתָא דְּמַלְכָּא, שָׁמְרָה רוּחִי, אִיהִי נַטְרַת לְרוּחִי, בְּהַהוּא עָלְמָא. מַאי וּפְקוּדָּתְךָ, דְּאַתְּ זַמִּין לְפַקְדָא לָהּ בְּקַדְמִיתָא.

as it says, “and thy charge preserved my spirit” (Ibid.), the words “thy charge” referring to the Matrona of the King, in whose charge are all spirits and by whom they are preserved.’
