Segment 1א׳

אָמַר רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן, תַּוַּוהְנָא עַל הַהוּא חַגִיר חַרְצָן, מָארֵיהּ דְּשַׂעְרֵי, אֲמַאי לָא אִשְׁתְּכַח בְּבֵי אִדָּרָא דִּילָן, בְּזִמְנָא דְּאִתְגַּלְּיָין מִלִּין אִלֵּין קַדִּישִׁין. אַדְּהָכִי, אָתָא אֵלִיָּהוּ, וּתְלַת קַטְפוֹרֵי נְהִירִין בְּאַנְפּוֹי. אָמַר לֵיהּ רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן, מַאי טַעְמָא לָא שְׁכִיחַ מֹר בְּקַרְדוּטָא (ס"א בקרטמא) גְּלִיפָא דְּמָארֵיהּ, בְּיוֹמָא דְּהִלּוּלָא.

R. Simeon said: I wonder at that one girded about the loins, the master of hair — why was he not found in our house of the Assembly at the time when these holy words were revealed? Meanwhile Elijah came, and three rays shining in his face. R. Simeon said to him: What is the reason that the master was not found at the engraved circlet (a variant reads: kartema) of his Master, on the day of the wedding feast?

Segment 2ב׳

אָמַר לֵיהּ, חַיֶּיךָ רִבִּי שֶׁבַע יוֹמִין אִתְבְּרִירוּ קַמֵּיהּ קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא, כָּל אִינּוּן דְּיֵיתוּן וְיִשְׁתַּכְחֻן עִמֵּיהּ, עַל לָא עַיִילְתּוּן בְּבֵי אִדָּרָא דִּלְכוֹן, וּבָעֵינָא לְאִשְׁתַּכְּחָא, זַמִּין קָטִיר בְּכַתְפוֹי (ס"א נ"ל שכן צריך לומר, ואנא הוה זמין תמן, ובעינא קמיה לאשתכחא, וכדין קטיר בכתפוי) וְלָא יָכִילְנָא, דְּהַהוּא יוֹמָא שָׁדַרְנִי קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא, לְמֶעְבַּד נִסִּין לְרַב הַמְנוּנָא סָבָא וְחַבְרוֹי, דְּאִתְמְסָרוּ בְּאַרְמוֹנָא (ס"א בקרוניא) דְּמַלְכָּא, וְאַרְחִישְׁנָא לְהוּ בְּנִסָּא, דְּרָמֵינָא לְהוּ כּוֹתָלָא דְּהֵיכָלָא דְּמַלְכָּא, וְאִתְקְטָרוּ בְּקִטְרוֹי, דְּמִיתוּ אַרְבָּעִים וַחֲמִשָּׁה פַּרְדַּשְׁכֵּי. וַאֲפִּיקְנָא לְרַב הַמְנוּנָא וְחַבְרוֹי וְרָמֵינָא (ס"א ואוליכנא) לוֹן לְבִקְעַת אוֹנוֹ, וְאִשְׁתְּזִיבוּ. וְזַמִינְנָא קַמַּיְיהוּ נָהֲמָא וּמַיָּיא, דְּלָא אַכְלוּ תְּלָתָא יוֹמִין. וְכָל הַהוּא יוֹמָא לָא בָּדִילְנָא מִנַּיְיהוּ.

He said to him: By your life, Rabbi! Seven days all those who were to come and be present with him were chosen before the Holy One, blessed be He, before you entered your house of the Assembly; and I sought to be present, ready, bound upon his shoulders (a variant reads: it seems to me that thus it should say: And I was ready there, and I sought before Him to be present, and then bound upon his shoulders), and I was not able; for on that day the Holy One, blessed be He, sent me to perform miracles for Rab Hamnuna the Elder and his companions, who had been delivered up in the palace (a variant reads: karonya) of the king. And I wrought for them a miracle, for I cast down for them the wall of the king's palace, and they were caught in its bonds, so that forty-five princes died. And I brought out Rab Hamnuna and his companions, and cast them (a variant reads: and led them) into the valley of Ono, and they were saved. And I set before them bread and water, for they had not eaten for three days. And all that day I did not part from them.

Segment 3ג׳

וְכַד תַּבְנָא, אַשְׁכַּחְנָא פַּרְסָא דְּנָטְלוּ כָּל אִינּוּן סַמְכִין, וּתְלַת מִן חַבְרַיָּיא עֲלָהּ, וְשָׁאִילְנָא לוֹן. וְאָמְרוּ חוּלָקָא דְקוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא, מֵהִלּוּלָא דְּרַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן וְחַבְרוֹי. זַכָּאָה אַנְתְּ רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן, וְזַכָּאָה חוּלָקָךְ, וְחוּלָקָא דְּאִינּוּן חַבְרַיָּיא דְּיַתְבִין קַמָּךְ. כַּמָה דַּרְגִּין אִתְתָּקָנוּ לְכוֹן לְעָלְמָא דְּאָתֵי. כַּמָה בּוֹצִינִין דִּנְהוֹרִין זְמִינִין לְנַהֲרָא לְכוּ.

And when I returned, I found a curtain that all those supports were carrying, and three of the Companions upon it; and I asked them, and they said: The portion of the Holy One, blessed be He, from the wedding feast of R. Simeon and his Companions. Happy are you, R. Simeon, and happy is your portion, and the portion of those Companions who sit before you! How many grades have been set in order for you in the world to come! How many lamps of lights are ready to shine for you!
