Segment 1
It has been taught: R. Simeon said: I call to witness over me the heavens, and all those who stand over us, that these words rejoice in all the worlds, and my words rejoice in my heart; and within the supernal curtain that is spread over us they are hidden away and ascend, and the Ancient of All stores them away, stored away and hidden from all. And when I began to speak, the Companions did not know that all these holy words were being aroused here. Happy is your portion, Companions who are here, and happy is my portion with you, in this world and in the world to come.
Segment 2
R. Simeon opened and said: “But you who cleave in the Lord your God,” etc. (Deut. 4, 4). Who is a holy people like Israel, of whom it is written, “Happy are you, O Israel, who is like you” (Deut. 33, 29), as it is written, “Who is like You, O Lord, among the mighty” (Ex. 15, 11)? Because their cleaving is to the holy Name in this world, and in the world to come more than here; for there they are not separated from Him, from that bundle in which the righteous are bound. This is what is written, “But you who cleave in the Lord”; and it is not written “who cleave to the Lord,” but “in the Lord” — literally.
Segment 3

It has been taught: when there descends from the precious supernal beard of the Holy Ancient One, hidden and concealed from all, the holy oil of anointing to the beard of the Small of Countenance, His beard is set in order in nine adornments. And at the hour when the precious beard of the Ancient of Ancients shines upon this beard of the Small of Countenance, thirteen springs of supernal oil flow into this beard; and twenty-two adornments are found in it, and from it flow twenty-two letters (a variant adds: of the Torah) of the holy Name. (beginning from the end of folio 138b) (a variant reads: And in the world to come; because their cleaving is to the holy Name in this world, and in the world to come more than here, for there they are not separated from that bundle of life in which the righteous are bound. This is what is written, “But you who cleave in the Lord” — in the Lord literally. Of you it is written, “Happy are you, O Israel, who is like you, a people saved by the Lord,” and it is written, “Who is like You, O Lord, among the mighty.” Now direct your minds to honour the King, and to honour the glory of the holy beard of the King. It has been taught: the supernal beard, the holy beard, is set in order in nine adornments, and this is the beard of the Small of Countenance. And when it descends from the precious supernal beard of the Holy Ancient One into this beard of the Small of Countenance, thirteen springs of supernal oil flow into this beard, and twenty-two adornments are found in it, and from it flow twenty-two letters of the holy Name.) And if you say that the beard is not found, for Solomon said only “His cheeks” (S. S. 5, 13) (a variant adds: and did not call it beard) — rather, thus it has been taught in the Book of the Hidden Mystery: whatever is hidden and stored away, and is not mentioned and not revealed, that thing is supernal and more precious than all, (a variant reads: because) and for this reason it is hidden and stored away. And the beard, because it is the praise and the perfection and the preciousness of the whole countenance, the verse stored it away, and it is not revealed.
