Zohar, Ha'Azinu 14

Section 14 of 17 in Ha'Azinu — 3 segments

Segment 1

R. Jose said: ‘There is no creature so devoted to her young as the eagle, being as kind to them as it is cruel to others.

Segment 2

THE LORD ALONE DID LEAD HIM AND THERE WAS NO STRANGE GOD WITH HIM: He alone, as it is written, “And the Lord went before them”, etc. (Ex. 13, 21), and they were not led by an angel or any other Chieftain such as are called “strange god”.’

Segment 3

Happy is the portion of Israel, that the Holy One, blessed be He, leads them. So it is written of them, “For the Lord has chosen Jacob for Himself, and Israel for His own treasure” (Ps. 135, 4-5); and it is written, “For the Lord will not forsake His people”, etc. (I Sam. 12, 22). What is the reason that the Lord will not forsake His people? “For His great name’s sake” — because this cleaves to this. And therefore the Holy One, blessed be He, will not abandon them; for in every place where they dwell the Holy One, blessed be He, is with them, as we have explained.
