Segment 1

The precept (33) after this one is to keep the Feast of Weeks, as it is written, “And you shall keep the feast of weeks to the Lord your God.” “Weeks”: because Israel entered into the mystery of fifty days, which are seven weeks. And by the offering of the omer the evil inclination was annulled, which fled from the woman of worth; and when it was not offered there, Israel cleave to the Holy One, blessed be He, and it is annulled from above and from below.

Segment 2

And therefore in this manner it is called atzeret, because in it there is the annulling of the evil inclination. And therefore no sin-offering is written of it, as at the other seasons, of which a sin-offering is written (to the Lord). And then all the lights were gathered to the woman of worth, and therefore atzeret.

Segment 3

“Weeks”, and it is not written how many they are. Rather, everywhere that a thing is stated without qualification, the name brings it about that they are of seven. And it is written, “Seven weeks shall you count for yourself”: why then is “weeks” written by itself? Rather, so it must be, “weeks” unqualified, to include above and below; for everywhere that these are awakened, those also are awakened with them. Before Solomon was, they were not revealed; once Solomon came, he made of them a particular, as it is written, “seven days and seven days” (I Kings 8, 65): this is a particular.
