Segment 1א׳

רִבִּי יוֹסֵי אַשְׁכָּחֵיהּ לְרִבִּי אַבָּא, דְּהֲוָה יָתִיב וְקָארִי, הַאי קְרָא דִּכְתִּיב, (תהילים נ״ה:כ״ג) הַשְׁלֵךְ עַל יְיָ' יְהָבְךָ, עַל דַּיְיקָא, דְּהָא מְזוֹנֵי בְּמַזָּלָא תַּלְיָין. רִבִּי יְהוּדָה הֲוָה קָארֵי, (תהילים ל״ב:ו׳) עַל זֹאת יִתְפַּלֵּל כָּל חָסִיד אֵלֶיךָ לְעֵת מְצֹא. עַל זֹאת וַדַּאי. לְעֵת מְצֹא, הָא אוֹקִימְנָא. אֲבָל לְעֵת מְצֹא, כְּמָה דִּכְתִּיב, (ישעיהו נ״ה:ו׳) דִּרְשׁוּ יְיָ' בְּהִמָצְאוֹ קְרָאוּהוּ בִּהְיוֹתוֹ קָרוֹב. דָּבָר אַחֵר לְעֵת מְצֹא, בְּשַׁעֲתָא דְּנַהֲרִין נַגְדִּין וְאִתְמַשְׁכָאן, וּמִסְתַּפְּקֵי אֲבָהָן, וּמִתְבַּרְכָאן כֹּלָא. רַק לְשֵׁטֶף מַים רַבִּים, מַאן שֵׁטֶף מַים רַבִּים, דָּא עַמִיקָא דְּמַבּוּעִין וְנַהֲרִין, דְּמַאן יִזְכֶּה לֵיהּ, וּמַאן יִזְכֶּה לְקָרְבָא וּלְסַלְּקָא תַּמָּן. הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב בֵּיהּ, (תהילים ל״ב:ו׳) רַק לְשֵׁטֶף מַיִם רַבִּים אֵלָיו לֹא יַגִּיעוֹ דְּהָא לָא זַכָּאָן, וְלָא יַכְלִין.

R. Jose found R. Abba similarly interpreting the words, “Cast thy burden upon the Lord” (Ps. 55, 23), because food also depends on mazzal. R. Judah expounded similarly the verse, “For this (‘al zoth) let every one that is godly pray to thee” (Ibid. 32, 6): verily, to that which is above zoth.

Segment 2ב׳

רִבִּי יִצְחָק אָמַר, כְּתִיב (תהילים כ״ז:ד׳) אַחַת שָׁאַלְתִּי מֵאֵת יְיָ' אוֹתָהּ אֲבַקֵּשׁ וְגוֹ'. זַכָּאִין אִינּוּן צַדִּיקַיָּיא, דְּכַמָּה גְּנִיזִין עִלָּאִין טְמִירִין לְהוּ בְּהַהוּא עָלְמָא, דְּקוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא מִשְׁתַּעֲשֵׁעַ בְּהוּ בְּאִינוּן עָלְמִין, כְּמָה דְּאוֹקִימְנָא בְּנֹעַם יְיָ', וְהָא אִתְּמַר. רִבִּי חִזְקִיָּה אָמַר מֵהָכָא, (ישעיהו ס״ד:ג׳) עַיִן לֹא רָאָתָה אֱלֹהִים זוּלָתְךָ יַעֲשֶׂה לִמְחַכֵּה לוֹ. יַעֲשֶׂה, תַּעֲשֶׂה מִבָּעֵי לֵיהּ. אֶלָּא יַעֲשֶׂה וַדַּאי, הַיְינוּ (ישעיהו ל״ח:ה׳) יוֹסִיף עַל יָמֶיךָ חֲמֵשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה. וְהַיְינוּ הַשְׁלֵךְ עַל ה' יְהָבְךָ. וּכְתִיב וַתִּתְפַּלֵּל עַל יְיָ'. וְכֹלָּא חַד.

R. Isaac said: ‘Happy are the righteous in that many precious treasures are stored up for them in the other world, where God will have joyous converse with them, as we have laid down. Happy their portion in this world and the next, as it is written: “But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice, let them ever shout for joy because thou defendest them, let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee” (Ps. 5, 12).’

Segment 3ג׳

זַכָּאָה חוּלָקֵיהוֹן דְּצַדִּיקַיָּיא, בְּעָלְמָא דֵּין וּבְעָלְמָא דְּאָתֵי, עָלַיְיהוּ כְּתִיב (תהילים ה׳:י״ב) וְיִשְׂמְחוּ כָל חוֹסֵי בָךְ לְעוֹלָם יְרַנֵּנוּ וְתָסֵךְ עָלֵימוֹ וְיַעְלְצוּ בְךָ אוֹהֲבֵי שְׁמֶךָ. וּכְתִיב (תהילים ק״מ:י״ד) אַךְ צַדִּיקִים יוֹדוּ לִשְׁמֶךָ יֵשְׁבוּ יְשָׁרִים אֶת פָּנֶיךָ. וּכְתִיב (תהילים ט׳:י״א) וְיִבְטְחוּ בְךָ יוֹדְעֵי שְׁמֶךָ כִּי לֹא עָזַבְתָּ דוֹרְשֶׁךָ יְיָ'. בָּרוּךְ יְיָ' לְעוֹלָם אָמֵן וְאָמֵן. יִמְלוֹךְ יְיָ' לְעוֹלָם אָמֵן וְאָמֵן.

Happy is the portion of the righteous in this world and in the world to come. Of them it is written, “But let all those that take refuge in You rejoice, let them ever shout for joy, and defend them; let them also that love Your name exult in You” (Ps. 5, 12). And it is written, “Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name; the upright shall dwell in Your presence” (Ps. 140, 14). And it is written, “And they that know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, Lord, have not forsaken them that seek You” (Ps. 9, 11). Blessed be the Lord for ever. Amen and Amen. May the Lord reign for ever. Amen and Amen.
