Section 46 of 75 in Achrei Mot — 11 segments
Segment 1
AFTER THE DOINGS OF THE LAND OF EGYPT, WHERE YOU DWELT, YOU SHALL NOT DO (Lev. 18, 3). R. Isaac began: “To declare the name of the Lord in Zion, and His praise in Jerusalem” (Ps. 102, 22). There, as we have learnt, the Holy Name is hidden and revealed; and the Torah, which is the supernal Holy Name, is hidden and revealed; and every verse that is in the Torah, and every section of the Torah, is hidden and revealed.
Segment 2
For it has been taught, R. Judah said: from the boldness of one righteous woman, how many good things came forth to the world! And who is she? Tamar, as it is written, “and she sat at the entrance of Enaim” (Gen. 38, 14). R. Abba said: this section proves that the Torah is hidden and revealed. And I have looked into the whole of the Torah and have not found a place that is called “the entrance of Enaim”; rather, the whole of it is hidden, and it is the mystery of mysteries.
Segment 3
And it has been taught: what did this righteous woman see, that she did this deed? Rather, in the house of her father-in-law she knew the ways of the Holy One, blessed be He, and how He governs this world with men; and because she knew, the Holy One, blessed be He, established the matter by her hand. And this goes as we have learnt: Bath-sheba was made ready from the six days of creation to be the mother of Solomon the King. Here too Tamar was made ready for this from the day the world was created.
