זוהר, אחרי מות מ׳Zohar, Achrei Mot 40

Segment 1א׳

(ויקרא ט״ז:כ״ט) בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִי בֶּעָשׂוֹר לַחֹדֶשׁ. בֶּעָשׂוֹר דַּיְיקָא, כְּמָה דְּאוֹקִימְנָא. תְּעַנּוּ אֶת נַפְשׁוֹתֵיכֶם, וַדַּאי הָכִי הוּא, וְהָא אִתְּמַר נַפְשׁוֹתֵיכֶם וַדַּאי. דְּהָא בְּנַפְשָׁא תַּלְיָא מִלְּתָא, וּבְגִין כַּךְ, אֲכִילָה וּשְׁתִיָּה מִתְּשִׁיעָאָה, יַתִיר מִיּוֹמָא אָחֳרָא. וְאַף עַל גַּב דְּהַאי מִלָּה אִתְּמַר בְּגַוְונָא אָחֳרָא, וְכֹלָּא שַׁפִּיר, וְהַאי וְהַאי מִלָּה חֲדָא, וְכָל חַד בְּאַתְרֵיהּ, וְהָכִי הוּא.

IN THE SEVENTH MONTH ON THE TENTH DAY OF THE MONTH. The allusion of the “tenth” is as we have explained.

Segment 2ב׳

וְתָאנָא, בְּהַאי יוֹמָא, כָּל חֵידוּ, וְכָל נְהִירוּ, וְכָל וַותְּרָנוּתָא דְּעָלְמִין, כֻּלְּהוּ תַּלְיָין בְּאִימָּא עִלָּאָה, דְּכָל מַבּוּעִין נַגְדִּין וְנָפְקִין מִנָּהּ. וּכְדֵין נְהִירִין כָּל אִינּוּן בּוּצִינִין, וְנַהֲרִין בִנְהִירוּ בְּחֶדְוָותָא, עַד דְּמִתְבְּסַם כֹּלָּא. וּכְדֵין כָּל אִינּוּן דִּינִין אִשְׁתְּכָחוּ בִּנְהִירוּ, וְדִינָא לָא אִתְעָבִיד, וְעַל דָּא תְּעַנּוּ אֶת נַפְשׁוֹתֵיכֶם.

We have learnt that on this day all joy and all illumination and all forgiveness depend on the Supernal Mother from whom issue all springs. Then all the lights shine with glad brightness until all is firmly established, and all judgements are also bathed in light and punishment is not inflicted.

אָמַר רִבִּי אַבָּא, הָא אוֹקִים לָהּ מֹר, מִן גּוּפָא דְּמַתְנִיתָא, לָא גָּלוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵאַרְצָם, עַד שֶׁכָּפְרוּ בְּקוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא. דִּכְתִּיב, (שמואל ב כ׳:א׳) אֵין לָנוּ חֵלֶק בְּדָוִד וְלֹא נַחֲלָה בְּבֶן יִשַׁי, וְהָא אִתְּמַר. קְרָא אַחֲרִינָא אַשְׁכַּחְנָא בְּהַאי, דִּכְתִּיב, (מלכים א י״ב:ט״ז) רְאֵה בֵיתְךָ דָּוִד. אָמַר לֵיהּ, הָכִי הוּא וַדַּאי, בֵּית דָּוִד אִקְרֵי, כְּמָה דִּכְתִּיב, (ישעיהו ב׳:ה׳) בֵּית יַעֲקֹב לְכוּ וְנֵלְכָה בְּאוֹר יְיָ'. בֵּית יַעֲקֹב, כְּמָה דְאַתְּ אָמֵר (ישעיהו ס׳:ז׳) וּבֵית תִּפְאַרְתִּי אֲפָאֵר. לְכוּ וְנֵלְכָה בְּאוֹר יְיָ', דִּכְתִּיב, (בראשית ב׳:י׳) וְנָהָר יוֹצֵא מֵעֵדֶן לְהַשְׁקוֹת אֶת הַגָּן, וְנָטַע הַאי גַּן לְאִשְׁתַּעְשְׁעָא בֵּיהּ עִם צַדִּיקַיָּיא, דְּבֵיהּ שַׁרְיָין.

R. Abba said: The master has already established it from the body of the teaching: Israel were not exiled from their land until they denied the Holy One, blessed be He, as it is written, “We have no portion in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse” (II Sam. 20, 1); and it has been said. I have found another verse for this, as it is written, “See to your own house, David” (I Kings 12, 16). He said to him: So it is assuredly; it is called the house of David, as it is written, “O house of Jacob, come, and let us walk in the light of the Lord” (Isa. 2, 5). “The house of Jacob,” as it says, “and I will glorify the house of My glory” (Isa. 60, 7). “Come, and let us walk in the light of the Lord”: as it is written, “And a river went out of Eden to water the garden” (Gen. 2, 10); and He planted this garden to take delight in it with the righteous who dwell in it.
