Se’if 1א׳

אֵין קוֹבְרִין הַמֵּת בְּתַכְרִיכִים יְקָרִים, אֲפִלּוּ לְנָשִׂיא שֶׁבְּיִשְׂרָאֵל.

The deceased is not buried in expensive shrouds, even if he was a prince in Israel.

Se’if 2ב׳

נָהֲגוּ לִקְבֹּר בִּבְגָדִים לְבָנִים.

The custom was to bury in white garments.

Se’if 3ג׳

הָאִישׁ אֵינוֹ כּוֹרֵךְ וּמְקַשֵּׁר הָאִשָּׁה, אֲבָל הָאִשָּׁה כּוֹרֶכֶת וּמְקַשֶּׁרֶת הָאִישׁ.

Because of obscene thoughts which is not applicable as much in the case of a woman attending a man — ShaK. supra § 335, 10 and cf. Mas. Gerim(H) I, 4 (p. 69).

Se’if 4ד׳

מַעֲצִימִין עֵינָיו שֶׁל מֵת; וְאִם נִפְתַּח פִּיו, קוֹשְׁרִין לְחַיָּיו. וּפוֹקְקִין נְקָבָיו אַחַר שֶׁמְּדִיחִין אוֹתוֹ בְּמִינֵי בְּשָׂמִים. וְגוֹזְזִין שְׂעָרוֹ. הַגָּה: וְצִפָּרְנָיו. וּמְדִיחִים אוֹתוֹ הֵיטֵב בְּכָל מָקוֹם, שֶׁיְּהֵא נָקִי מִכָּל טֻמְאָה (בִּנְיָמִין זְאֵב), וְטָחִין רֹאשׁוֹ בְּבֵיצִים טְרוּפִים בִּקְלִפָּתָן, שֶׁגַּלְגַּל הוּא שֶׁחוֹזֵר בָּעוֹלָם (כָּל בּוֹ).

We close the eyes of the deceased; and if his mouth is open, his jaw should be tied. And his orifices should be plugged after he is washed in spice water. And his hair should be cut. Rema: And his nails. And wash him well in every place, so that he is clean from all impurity, and smash boiled eggs on his head, with the shells, that he is resurrected, that he returns in the world.
