It is permitted to join the Torah, the Prophets and the Writings in one volume; and he leaves between each chumash (one of the five books of the Torah) and the next four lines, and between each prophet and the next three, and likewise between each prophet and the next of the Twelve; and their holiness is not as the holiness of a Torah scroll, but only as a chumash. And all this is with chumashim that are made on a scroll like a Torah scroll; but with ours, which are bound, there is no distinction between a chumash and a prophet (the Ran). And it is permitted to write the whole Torah chumash by chumash, each by itself, and they do not have the holiness of a complete Torah scroll. And there is one who says that they are like a Torah scroll in all their matters, except that they do not read from them in the congregation.
Se’if 2ב׳
He shall not write a megillah (a scroll of part of the Torah) by itself in which there are parashiyot (sections of the Torah). And they do not write a megillah for a child to learn from; but if he intends to complete it into a chumash, it is permitted.
Se’if 3ג׳
If he wrote a megillah three words to each line, it is permitted.
