סֻכָּה וְנוֹיָהּ אֲסוּרִים גַּם בַּשְּׁמִינִי. וּבְחוּצָה לָאָרֶץ שֶׁעוֹשִׂים שְׁנֵי יָמִים טוֹבִים, אָסוּר גַּם בַּתְּשִׁיעִי שֶׁהוּא סְפֵק שְׁמִינִי; וְאִם חָל שַׁבָּת בְּמוֹצָאֵי יוֹם טוֹב הָאַחֲרוֹן שֶׁל חַג, נוֹהֲגִים שֶׁלֹּא לְהִסְתַּפֵּק מִנּוֹי סֻכָּה עַד מוֹצָאֵי שַׁבָּת; וְיֵשׁ מַתִּירִים. הַגָּה: יֵשׁ שֶׁנָּהֲגוּ כְּשֶׁהָיוּ יוֹצְאִים מִן הַסֻּכָּה הָיוּ אוֹמְרִים: יְהִי רָצוֹן שֶׁנִּזְכֶּה לִישֵׁב בְּסֻכָּה שֶׁל לִוְיָתָן (כָּל בּוֹ). וְאָסוּר לְהָכִין בְּיוֹם טוֹב לְצֹרֶךְ לֵיל יוֹם טוֹב, וְלָכֵן אָסוּר לְהַעֲמִיד הַשֻּׁלְחָנוֹת וְהַסַּפְסָלִים בַּבַּיִת לְצֹרֶךְ הַלַּיְלָה, דְּהָוֵי הֲכָנָה (הַגָּהוֹת מַיְמוֹנִי וּמַהֲרִי"ל).

It is forbidden to prepare on Yom Tov for the next Yom Tov. Therefore, it is forbidden to set up tables and benches in the house in preparation for the evening because this is [illicit] preparation (Hagahot Maimoni and Mahari"l).
