Se’if 1א׳
An animal may go out with that by which it is held secure; but if it is not held secure by it, then it is excessive guarding and is a burden. And likewise anything that is for adornment and not for guarding — it may not go out with it. Therefore a she-camel may go out with a nose-ring of iron, which is a ring of iron: he pierces its nose and puts it in; and a Libyan ass with a bit of iron, that is, brena; and the camel with a halter, which is cavestro; and a mule and an ass and a horse go out with a halter or with a bridle, which is freno — but not with both. And it is permitted to wind the rope of the halter around its neck and let it go out with it. And it is permitted to handle the halter and to put it on it, provided only that he does not lean on it.
Se’if 2ב׳
If he tied a rope in the horse's mouth, this is a burden, because it is not held secure by it.
Se’if 3ג׳
To let an ass go out with a promvia (that is, a bridle of iron) is forbidden.
