שְׁלֹמֹה Shlomo
Often spelled Solomon in English. Every verse in which this name stands — 293 places, in canonical order, first appearance to last. These are the occurrences our own corpus tags as this name, counting every form the text writes it in, which is the number on the list.
David's son by Bat Sheva, who succeeded him as Israel's third king. Renowned for his God-given wisdom, he built the Temple in Jerusalem, and his reign is described as one of peace and prosperity, though his many foreign wives turned his heart to other gods in his old age (1 Kings 1-11). This spelling is shared with an ordinary Hebrew word apart from the king's name, so the count reflects more than one meaning.
