Amora of Babylonia · 5th generation (c. 350–375 CE) — named 178 times across 31 tractates of the Bavli.

Amora of Babylonia · 5th generation×178 named in the Bavli31 tractates2 as a patronymic

Rav Zvid, of the fifth Babylonian generation, headed the academy at Pumbedita after the days of Rav Papa. His rulings gather in the civil law — Bava Batra, Bava Kamma and Bava Metzia account for most of his mentions — and he is regularly cited beside Rav Papa and Rava.

He is named some hundred and eighty times across thirty-one tractates and is quoted by other sages a handful of times. He belongs to the generation whose work of sorting and settling the earlier disputes prepared the ground for the redaction under Rav Ashi.
