Amora of Babylonia · 3rd generation×28 named in the Bavli18 tractates

Rav Zutra bar Tuvia, of the third Babylonian generation, was a student of Rav, and he is in the Talmud almost entirely as Rav's voice: of the close to thirty times he is named, twenty-three introduce a teaching he carries in Rav's name. The Bavli also writes him as Mar Zutra bar Tuvia.

He appears across eighteen tractates, heaviest in Berachot, and much of what he transmits is aggada — the passages on prayer, on creation, and on the ordering of the world.

Cites Rav constantly.
