The Sages of the Talmud

רב טובי בר קיסנא Rav Tovi bar Kisna

Amora of Babylonia · 3rd generation (c. 290–320 CE) — named 6 times across 4 tractates of the Bavli.

Amora of Babylonia · 3rd generation×6 named in the Bavli4 tractates

Rav Tovi bar Kisna, of the third Babylonian generation, is in this corpus almost entirely a transmitter: every one of his six mentions carries a teaching he reports in Shmuel's name, and it is as Shmuel's tradent that the Bavli has occasion to cite him at all.

Half of those mentions are in Menachot, the rest in Ketubot, Nedarim and Yevamot. His patronymic keeps him apart in this index from the other sages called Rav Tovi, whose entries the roster holds separately.

Cites Shmuel.
