The Sages of the Talmud

רב טובי Rav Tovi

Amora of Babylonia · 4th generation (c. 320–350 CE) — named 8 times across 6 tractates of the Bavli.

Rav Tovi, of the fourth Babylonian generation, is named eight times across six tractates, most often in Bava Batra, and is cited beside Rav Yosef and Rav Mattana.

The bare form covers more than one sage — the roster also holds Rav Tovi bar Kisna and Rav Tovi bar Matna as separate entries — and the Bavli's unqualified Rav Tovi does not always tell which of them is meant. The entry is therefore marked for review, and it says the merge aloud rather than picking one life and telling it.

Bare form; more than one sage of the name.
