רב תחליפא בר מערבא Rav Tachlifa of the West
Amora of Babylonia · 5th generation (c. 350–375 CE) — named 31 times across 20 tractates of the Bavli.
Rav Tachlifa of the West, of the fifth Babylonian generation, is one of the sages who carried the teaching of Eretz Yisrael eastward to the Babylonian academies; his by-name says as much, and the Bavli also writes him simply as Rav Tachlifa.
He is named some thirty times across twenty tractates — an unusually wide spread for so few citations, which is what one expects of a man who arrives with news from elsewhere rather than with a body of rulings of his own. Rabbi Abbahu and Rav Chisda are the names he stands beside most.
Brought western teachings east.
