Rav Sala, of the fourth Babylonian generation, is named eight times across six tractates, most often in Berachot and Taanit, and in three of those places he is reporting a teaching in an earlier sage's name — Rav Hamnuna's, and Rabbi Yirmiya's — rather than ruling in his own.

He is cited beside Rav Yehuda and Abaye. The bare name is borne by more than one sage, and the roster marks the entry for review accordingly.

Rarely cited.
