Rav Nechemya, of the fifth Babylonian generation, is one of the sages whose name is written more often inside another man's than on its own: of his nine occurrences, five stand within a patronymic and only four are citations of his own teaching.

The occurrences are spread across seven tractates, Chullin and Shabbat among them, in the company of Rav Ashi, Rav Huna and Rav Yosef. The bare form is borne by more than one sage and the roster marks the entry for review.
