רב נתן בר אבא Rav Natan bar Abba
Amora of Babylonia · 4th generation (c. 320–350 CE) — named 3 times across 1 tractate of the Bavli.
Rav Natan bar Abba is one of the sages whose place in the Talmud is that of a transmitter: he was a student of Rav, and all three of his mentions carry a teaching he reports in Rav's name. It is as Rav's tradent that the Bavli has occasion to cite him at all.
All three stand in Beitzah. Beyond that office, the reference tradition holds little about him that can be stated firmly.
Cites Rav.
