רב משרשיא Rav Mesharshiya
Amora of Babylonia · 5th generation (c. 350–375 CE) — named 108 times across 30 tractates of the Bavli.
Rav Mesharshiya, of the fifth Babylonian generation, was a student of Rava and appears throughout the later Bavli in his teacher's company and in Ravina's.
He is named some hundred and ten times across thirty tractates, spread thinly rather than concentrated in any one. His questions are typically practical — how a ruling applies to a case that does not fit it cleanly — and the Gemara uses them to draw out the limits of the position under discussion.
