רב הונא בריה דרב יהושע Rav Huna son of Rav Yehoshua
Amora of Babylonia · 5th generation (c. 350–375 CE) — named 254 times across 33 tractates of the Bavli.
Rav Huna son of Rav Yehoshua, of the fifth Babylonian generation, learned from Abaye and Rava and is the constant companion of Rav Papa — the two study, travel and rule together through the whole of the later Bavli, and where one is named the other is usually near.
He is named some two hundred and fifty times across thirty-three tractates, heaviest in Eruvin and Bava Batra. The Talmud records his illness and recovery, and his answer when asked what he had seen: that it was so, and it was decreed that he return, because he had never insisted on his own rights against a person who had wronged him.
The constant companion of Rav Papa.
