The Sages of the Talmud

רב הונא בריה דרב נתן Rav Huna son of Rav Natan

Amora of Babylonia · 6th generation (c. 375–425 CE) — named 27 times across 16 tractates of the Bavli.

Amora of Babylonia · 6th generation×27 named in the Bavli16 tractates

Rav Huna son of Rav Natan, of the sixth Babylonian generation, belonged to Rav Ashi's circle.

He is named some twenty-seven times across sixteen tractates, heaviest in Pesachim and otherwise spread very thinly. The Talmud brings him in the ordinary business of the last full amoraic generation — a question to the head of the academy, a report of what was done, a fixing of the ruling — and the reference tradition adds little beyond that.

Of Rav Ashi's circle.
