Rav Hillel, of the fifth Babylonian generation, is named seven times across six tractates, spread thinly and gathered nowhere, in the company of Rav Ashi, Rav Kahana and Amemar.

The name is a rare one among the amoraim, and the roster marks the entry for review. Beyond the generation and the circle in which he is cited, the reference tradition holds little about him that can be stated firmly.

Rarely cited.
