רב דימי מנהרדעא Rav Dimi of Nehardea
Amora of Babylonia · 6th generation (c. 375–425 CE) — named 23 times across 11 tractates of the Bavli.
Rav Dimi of Nehardea, of the sixth Babylonian generation, carries his town in his name — a different man from the Rav Dimi of the fourth generation, the traveller between Eretz Yisrael and Babylonia, and the roster keeps the two apart. The tradition remembers him at the head of an academy in his day.
He is named a little over twenty times across eleven tractates, heaviest by some distance in Bava Batra, and the Talmud brings him in the commercial law above all.
Head of Nehardea.
