רב חייא בר יוסף Rav Chiya bar Yosef
Amora of Babylonia · 2nd generation (c. 250–290 CE) — named 48 times across 17 tractates of the Bavli.
Rav Chiya bar Yosef, of the second Babylonian generation, went up from Babylonia to Eretz Yisrael and so appears on both sides of the tradition — cited with Rav and Shmuel, and named in the company of Rabbi Yochanan.
He is quoted in others' names some seven times and cited by others some eight, and is named some fifty times across seventeen tractates, heaviest in Ketubot and Bava Metzia. His usefulness to the Talmud is that of a man who could report what each of the two great centres held.
Went up from Babylonia to Eretz Yisrael.
