רב חמא בר גוריא Rav Chama bar Gurya
Amora of Babylonia · 2nd generation (c. 250–290 CE) — named 54 times across 14 tractates of the Bavli.
Rav Chama bar Gurya, of the second Babylonian generation, was a student of Rav, and he stands in the Talmud chiefly as a transmitter of his teacher's rulings: he is quoted in another's name some thirty-five times, almost always Rav's, and is himself cited by others some eleven times.
He is named some fifty-five times, nearly half of them in Shabbat, where his reports of Rav's practice carry the discussion of what may and may not be handled and moved. Beyond his place in Rav's circle, little more about him is firmly established.
Cited in Rav's name.
