The Sages of the Talmud

רב ביבי Rav Bibi

Amora of Babylonia · 4th generation (c. 320–350 CE) — named 59 times across 24 tractates of the Bavli.

Amora of Babylonia · 4th generation×59 named in the Bavli24 tractates

Rav Bibi, of the fourth Babylonian generation, is quoted in others' names some ten times and cited some sixty times across twenty-four tractates, spread thinly rather than gathered.

He appears most often beside Rav Nachman and Rav Yosef. He is a different man from Rav Bibi bar Abaye, of the following generation, who has his own entry. Beyond the generation and the circle in which he is cited, the reference tradition holds little about him that can be stated firmly.

Of the fourth generation.
