רב אחא בר חנינא Rav Acha bar Chanina
Amora of the Land of Israel · 3rd generation (c. 290–320 CE) — named 40 times across 14 tractates of the Bavli.
Rav Acha bar Chanina, of the third amoraic generation in Eretz Yisrael. The Bavli writes him under three forms — with רב, with רבי, and as Rabbi Acha berabbi Chanina — and the roster holds all three as the one man.
He is named some forty times across fourteen tractates, heaviest in Sanhedrin and Berachot, which is the distribution of a sage heard chiefly in aggada. He transmits more than he rules, carrying teachings in the name of Rabbi Yehoshua ben Levi above all.
Of Eretz Yisrael.
