רבי יוסי ברבי יהודה Rabbi Yose berabbi Yehuda
Tanna · 4th generation (c. 135–170 CE) — named 297 times across 36 tractates of the Bavli.
Rabbi Yose berabbi Yehuda, of the fourth tannaitic generation, was the son of Rabbi Yehuda bar Ilai and a colleague of Rabbi Yehuda HaNasi in the generation of Usha and after. His rulings are cited across thirty-six tractates — nearly the whole of the Shas — though rarely at length in any one of them.
He is one of the tannaim whose disputes the amoraim use to fix the terms of a question: the Gemara will cite his position against his father's or against Rebbi's in order to show that a distinction was already a matter of argument in tannaitic times. He is named some three hundred times.
Son of Rabbi Yehuda bar Ilai.
