רבי יוחנן בן דהבאי Rabbi Yochanan ben Dahavai
Tanna · 4th generation (c. 135–170 CE) — named 3 times across 3 tractates of the Bavli.
Rabbi Yochanan ben Dahavai, of the fourth tannaitic generation, is cited chiefly on the laws of marital conduct, in the teaching he reports in the name of the ministering angels concerning the children born of one conduct or another — a passage the Talmud itself then sets aside, ruling that the law does not follow him.
He is named three times, one apiece in Chagigah, Menachot and Nedarim; the passage for which he is known stands in Nedarim.
Cited on marital law.
