רבי ישבב Rabbi Yeshevav the Scribe
Tanna · 2nd generation (c. 80–110 CE) — named 9 times across 4 tractates of the Bavli.
Rabbi Yeshevav the Scribe, of the second tannaitic generation, is counted among the ten martyrs of the Roman persecution. The Talmud tells that he set out to give away all he had to the poor and that Rabbi Akiva would not let him, on the ruling that a man should not scatter more than a fifth of his means.
He is named nine times in four tractates, heaviest in Chullin and Ketubot — the latter being where that account stands.
One of the Ten Martyrs.
